Part of being an artist isn't just about making art, it's about getting people to see it. This part is hard for me. I am most comfortable in the mountains under the trees or in my studio. Sadly, I don't spend nearly as much time in either of those places, not nearly as much as I would like. In addition, I choose to homeschool my child. This is a huge privilege. Even so, I struggle with feelings of guilt about the selfishness that inevitably arises when trying to make time for my art, because it directly takes away time from my kiddos educational and emotional development as I am the main source for both. Exploration of that subject will be a different post entirely.
I spent the last two years, 2022-2023, submitting to call after call, and there were very few takers. I am accustomed to that, so I kept on. Then this year, in January alone, I was suddenly in four art shows, as well as organizing a successful art show for charity in honor of my late mother. It was a beautiful month of getting my art, as well as my mother's, out into the world. It was a bit wild, but I am so grateful.
Now, amazingly, I have my art in two brick-and-mortar galleries in February, and I wanted to share this with you:
